Since moving south, we have been blessed with regular visits from the family and there seems no better excuse for baking than shared tea-times. Millionaires’ Shortbread is a great favourite and, although terribly decadent and groaning with calories, it is one if the most delicious and essential components of a serious tea trolley. Inspired by the traditional recipe using Carnation Condensed Milk, I decided to experiment with a Millionaires’ Macaron – and am delighted with the result. The pale biscuit-coloured macaron shells, flavoured with a touch of vanilla, are sandwiched together with a layer of rich, creamy, fudge-y caramel and a layer of dark chocolate ganache and topped with a swirl of white chocolate ganache. There really isn’t much else to say! – just enjoy with a simple cup of tea!
